My pricing is simple: your quote will be the cost of the parts I'll need, plus my rates for the time I estimate the job will take, and no VAT added on top.
Hourly: £50/hour. Day rate for bigger jobs: £400/day.
The first hour is my minimum call-out — there's no extra fee just for turning up.
EICRs are charged at £75 plus £20 per circuit.
Does your postcode start with BA1 6? We're neighbours! Ask me about my neighbourhood discount.
I keep 86 Electrics as a small operation, so I'm not VAT-registered, meaning there will be no 20% VAT added to your bill.
Every house is different, so every electrical job is different. Adding a socket might take 30 minutes if it's next to an existing socket in a house with stud walls, or half a day if I need to lift floorboards and chase into Bath stone. The following prices are a rough guide only, and will depend entirely on the specifics of your house and the job you need doing.
| Job | Typical range | What moves it |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer unit (fuse box) change | £600–£1,000 | Number of circuits, and whether the unit's moving location |
| Rewire | £3,000–£13,000 | This varies more than any other job — full or part rewire, size of property, and how easy the walls and floors are to get into. Always quoted after a site visit |
| EICR | £200–£300 | Number of circuits — that's it |
| EV charger install | £900–£1,500 | Your choice of charger, and the cable run to the power supply |
| Fault finding | Hourly rate, first hour minimum | It's all about how quickly I can get to the root of the problem. Bigger fixes will be quoted for as separate jobs |
| Small jobs (extra socket, light point) | Hourly rate, first hour minimum | It's all about the accessibility of the cables. Like-for-like replacements are quick, long concealed cable runs take longer |
